
Dr. Kathleen Watkins, Ph.D., is a seasoned psychotherapist, trainer, and consultant with over 30 years of experience in psychology. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Ethnocultural Psychology, and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, California. She also holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Redlands, California.
In 2004, Dr. Watkins was honored with the Child Abuse Prevention Award from the Long Beach Area Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Prevention Council. For a decade she served as a Child Therapist at Miller Children’s Abuse and Violence Intervention Center (MCAVIC) in Long Beach, California. Additionally, she worked as a child and family therapist at For the Child in Long Beach as well as an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University (Malibu campus) in the graduate psychology department during the 2016/2017 academic year.
Dr. Watkins maintained a private practice in Long Beach at the Center for Best Living, providing psychotherapy to individuals (children and adults), families, and couples until 2021. Since March 2021, she has transitioned to wellness coaching as a certified life coach. Her wellness coaching practice is client-centered and collaborative, focusing on assisting clients in making long-term lifestyle changes. Dr. Watkins emphasizes that the client is the expert in their own life, while she brings specific skills and experience to facilitate the transformation process. Her practice includes wellness coaching, consulting, training, and public speaking.
